Vegetable gardens should be watered based on soil moisture and plant needs. In the spring, most of us are watering seeds and newly planted veggies. Check the soil regularly and only water when the top few inches begin to dry out, and the plants show signs of needing water (such as wilting during the heat of the day that doesn’t recover in the evening). If the soil is still moist, wait before watering. Avoid overwatering, and focus on giving plants what they need when they need it.
